MARCH 24, 2018
OPAS Annual Meeting, March 24, 2018
McConnell Art Center of Worthington, 777 Evening St., Worthington, OH 43085
Featuring artist Joshua Been
Joshua Been is one of the premiere plein air painters in the United States today. His plein air work has won countless awards, and as a result of his frequent plein air trips and prolific output he really knows what artists need in terms of equipment, leading to the development of his signature “Prolific Painter” line of easels and other items specifically designed to make life simpler for the plein air painter (https://www.prolificpainter.com/?v=7516fd43adaa). On top of that, Joshua is very generous with his tips on how to create better paintings, whether out in the field or in the studio. If you follow him on Facebook, you will notice he shares not only ‘in-progress’ photos but also gives tips on light/shadow, values, edges, shapes, and countless other information. When the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Plein Air Society thought about which artist we wanted to invite to present at our Annual Meeting on March 24, Joshua Been’s name was at the top of the list, and we are delighted he agreed to come to give a short talk and demo at the Annual Meeting on March 24 and also to conduct a 3 ½ day workshop from March 25-28.
We will also be hearing a talk about Ohio Barns from Pam Gray, president of Friends of Ohio Barns. This is relevant because our OPAS member show which begins in December has a theme of farms. We might as well know what we are painting.
Back by popular demand, is our small painting silent auction. Bring a small painting with you, ready to be hung, as a donation to OPAS. Also bring your checkbook or credit card so you can walk away with a great deal on some very nice paintings.
Boxed lunches are available from Panera as a preorder only. Download the form here, fill it out and mail it in. These are due by March 19, 2018.
The final half day of the workshop will be a demonstration that is open to the public for a fee of $50. You can sign up below. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Joshua and see him in action!
Joshua’s first workshop is full, but we have added a second workshop which will start with the 1/2 day demo on Wed.
